2 Rivers Remix Is Bringing a Free Indigenous Music Feast to Toquaht Nation
Indigenous music is heading to the west coast of Vancouver Island this week as 2 Rivers Remix brings its Toquaht Movable Feast to Macoah Village on Saturday, September 26.

Presented in partnership with Toquaht Nation, the free outdoor festival will take place at t̓uk̓ʷaaʔatḥiic hišimyiły̓ak, the Toquaht Gathering Place. The event is built around contemporary Indigenous music, art and culture, with live performances spanning multiple genres alongside traditional Nuu-chah-nulth songs and dances.
For Indigenous artists and audiences, that combination matters. The event does not separate contemporary creativity from culture. Instead, the program makes room for both: modern Indigenous musicians sharing the stage and community space with traditional songs, dances, food and gathering.
2 Rivers Remix describes itself as an Indigenous-led arts and cultural community focused on uplifting Indigenous voices through music, culture and connection. Its Movable Feast format takes that mission directly into communities rather than concentrating Indigenous arts programming in a single major-city venue.
This edition lands in Toquaht territory at the heart of Macoah Village. Along with the performances, organizers say visitors can expect food and market vendors, turning the day into more than a concert. It is a community gathering where music, culture, artists and local vendors can all occupy the same space.
The accessibility is another important part of the model: admission is free. Large arts and music events can become expensive quickly, especially once travel, tickets and food are added. A free community-based festival removes one of those barriers and creates an opportunity for families and community members to experience Indigenous performers without a ticket price at the gate.
The timing also gives Indigenous arts audiences in British Columbia another event to put on the calendar during a busy September. Indigenous film, music and cultural festivals have been active across the province and the country this month, giving artists more platforms and audiences more opportunities to see Indigenous-created work presented on its own terms.
For Dopest Natives Alive, the bigger story is the continued strength of Indigenous-led spaces for contemporary artists. Indigenous music is not one genre. Hip-hop, rock, electronic music, singer-songwriters, traditional music and experimental work can all exist within the same broader creative community. Events such as 2 Rivers Remix give that range somewhere to be heard.
The Toquaht Movable Feast takes place September 26, 2026, at the Toquaht Gathering Place in Macoah Village on Vancouver Island. The festival is free and open to people who want to experience contemporary Indigenous music, traditional Nuu-chah-nulth songs and dances, food, art and community.
